A Partial Laptop Screen Featuring the Top Shows to Watch on Netflix

Kid Corona’sTop 10 Favorite Shows You Must Watch on Netflix Right Now

Nowadays, Netflix is more under fire for its subscription fee than on fire with its content. While its glory days might be over, it still ekes out a few binge-worthy shows from time to time that have managed to make it into Kid Corona’s favorites. (Sorry, not sorry, Bridgerton!)

Here are the top shows to watch on Netflix from the alter ego that brought you Jack Trivia.

1. Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders was one of those slow-burn treats that everyone quietly watched while social media raved about the more popular Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. It wasn’t until the BBC original became a Netflix collaboration that word started to spread about the noir crime drama.

Come for Tom Hardy and stay for the Brummie accent. When you reach the end, get your hands on those iconic Newsboy Hats.

2. Cobra Kai

Cobra Kai was the Karate Kid revival no one thought they needed. It got Zabka and Macchio to grace our—laptop—screens again as the now-grownup rivals Johnny and Daniel and debunked all the stereotypes about revivals not working as well as their predecessors.

The show transitioned from YouTube to Netflix for its most recent season, so you don’t have to get another subscription, but you can buy all of the Karate Kid movies on Amazon to refresh your memory.

3. Ozark

Ozark came out in 2017, which makes us feel old because the show’s still fresh in our memory. It ran for four seasons and featured Jason Bateman in the role of Marty Byrde, a man with no plan whatsoever.

Watch as he lives the quintessential American Dream, juggling a family and money laundering schemes (totally normal). If nothing else, we got some sweet merch out of it.

4. Seinfeld

Before your kids saw Julia Louis-Dreyfus play an eccentric “Veep,”we grownups saw her as Jerry’s sarcastic and funny ex-girlfriend in the late-80s sitcom Seinfeld. The show ran for nine seasons, remains one of the most popular series on Netflix, and has quite the merch game. Need we say more?

5. High Score

Netflix’s High Score takes us back to a time when video games were much simpler, involved fewer “skins,”and played for the love of gaming instead of the revenue the sport generated.

A Nintendo Console, the Subject of a TV Showon Netflix

Spoiler Alert: Nintendo is the only game that stands the test of time and demonetization.

6. Queen of the South

Queen of the South stars Alice Braga in the role of Teresa Mendoza: a woman forced to flee Mexico after her drug-dealing boyfriend is killed by a cartel. There are one too many stereotypes in that sentence, but we promise you that all five seasons are worth the watch.

7. D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?!

D.B. Cooper became a real-life celebrity when he boarded a domestic flight in 1971, robbed its passengers, and made off in a parachute. The man was either a terrifying genius, certifiably insane or both. Kid Corona loves a mystery, and so does Netflix, or they wouldn’t dedicate a whole series called D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! to that minutes-long incident.

8. Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal

Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandalcovered the investigation into the college bribery scandal that shook the US in 2019. A serious crime like that deserved the Netflix treatment for the tea, if nothing else.

9. Lucifer

Brooklyn Nine-Nine wasn’t the only show to get canceled by Fox, only to be picked up by another channel. Lucifer also got the ax but was immediately picked up by Netflix this time.

The show ran for six seasons and starred Tom Ellis as the titular Lucifer Morning star, a hell-monger who moves to the City of Angels. If that’s too in-your-face, you haven’t seen the show’s merch yet.

10. Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia

Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia depicts a time when New York City was ruled by five mafia families, focusing on the beginning of their end at the hands of the FBI. It’s standard Netflix fare, but the end is oh-so-satisfying.

Once you’ve watched all of these top 10 recommended Netflix shows, you’ll be pressing the buzzer on Jack Trivia‘s TV show-related questions faster than anyone can say Kid Corona. Speaking of, visit America’s favorite trivia host at a location near you.
